NorthWind’s Corporate Objectives

The NorthWind Power Project aims to help reduce emissions of harmful greenhouse gases, the leading cause of global warming.
The project also aims to:
•    Accelerate rural electrification.
It has been the aim of NorthWind that most of the potential wind farms are located in the remote parts of the Philippines, the first beneficiary should be the rural areas.
•    Maintain a commitment towards the preservation of the environment.
All of NorthWind’s endeavor shall be solely to electrification through the use of renewable energy sources.

The Bangui Bay Project is the first wind renewable energy project delivering electricity in a wholesale basis in the Philippines and south-East Asia. The project is also the first Philippine recipient of the World Bank’s Prototype Carbon Fund and the first Philippine recipient of a Carbon Emission Reduction Certificates (CER’s) from the Executive Board of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
•    Undertake privately funded projects that can be sustained for the long term.
The project’s are undertaken wholly on privately funded initiatives and will only proceed after surpassing financial intermediaries hurdles primarily aimed to test technical and economical viability and the long term sustainability of pursued projects.
•    Seamlessly integrate the wind plant’s electricity delivery system with the local franchisees distribution system or the national transmission system.
The electricity production and delivery system of the wind farms will adhere to the policies of the EPIRA and the Philippine Grid Code.
The first 25MW wind power project in the Philippines tested its proponents on the technical and economical viability of the project. Given the significant advances on the technological development of wind turbines, NorthWind’s business is thus to carefully assess the availability of the wind resource and competently adapt the turbines to Philippine’s local conditions.
With the efficiency of the new breeds of wind turbines allowing NorthWind to attain mid-thirties capacity factors and a subsidized credit from the Danish International Development Agency, the project is able to attain a level of economic viability that can be sustained in the long term.
